It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Association des médecins omnipraticiens de Montréal (AMOM).

In terms of number of members, AMOM is the largest professional medical union in Quebec. It represents over 1,900 general practitioners working in the different areas of family medicine from emergency medicine to geriatrics, and these physicians ensure treatment and follow up health care for the general public.

AMOM was established in 1961 by a group of practitioners led by Dr. Guy Laporte. It was the first medical union in Quebec. Well-known physicians such as Gérard Hamel, Jacques Dinelle, Stanley Knox, André Lapierre, Georges Boileau, to name just a few, all participated in this epic of the 1960s. Two years later, they founded the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec together with representatives from five other regions.

This website is intended to be a hub where members of the Association can find information on the association’s union as well as administrative activities. The site will also enable them to communicate with the union Executive and Officers. For our partners in the network, we hope that it will contribute to facilitating our relations.

For other visitors to the website, we hope that they will be able to find the information they are seeking and will allow them to learn more about what the Association does.

We are always happy to respond to your questions and to take note of your comments.

Dr. Marc-André Asselin, President
